Coronavirus in Portsmouth: Three more people die from Covid-19 at QA hospital

THREE more patients have died in Portsmouth after contracting Covid-19.

The news has been confirmed this evening by John Knighton, the medical director at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, who said: ‘Sadly, we can confirm that three patients who were being cared for at Queen Alexandra Hospital and had Covid-19, have died.

‘The patients, two men, aged 73 and 77, and a 54-year-old woman, all had underlying health conditions.

‘We have informed the families of the patients and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time.’

Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS England and NHS Improvement will not be giving out any further information on this patient.

Yesterday it was confirmed that four more patients had died, in addition to one confirmed earlier in the week, meaning that in total there have been eight deaths in Portsmouth. All have had other conditions.

The coronavirus death toll in the UK has reached 233 after NHS England said this afternoon that a further 53 people had died in England after testing positive.
