Coronavirus: One new Covid-19 death confirmed at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth

A patient has died after testing positive for coronavirus at Queen Alexandra Hospital.

The death at the hospital in Cosham was confirmed by NHS England in the daily update for today.

According to the latest announcement, the patient died on Monday and it brings the total number of Covid-19 related deaths at QA to 232 since the pandemic began.

It is the second coronavirus death at the hospital in nine days, with one also confirmed on September 15, and the third in the last month, as a patient who tested positive for the virus died on August 31.

The pandemic death toll for across the UK rose by 37 in today’s update and now stands at 41,862.

NHS England’s figures include patients who have died in hospitals and either tested positive for Covid-19 or where no positive test result was received for Covid-19, but Covid-19 was mentioned on their death certificate.

The death comes as 65 new coronavirus cases were announced across Hampshire yesterday, including seven more in Portsmouth.
