AN MP has warned people living on the Isle of Wight they must not come to Portsmouth for a Covid-19 vaccine.

Island MP Bob Seely spoke out as he welcomed the anticipated opening of more vaccine centres in Hampshire.

He said: ‘Letters to those in their 70s are now landing on doorsteps. Please don’t ring GP surgeries - they are absolutely flat out - but wait for letters or calls.

‘I am chasing up why some people are being told to book in to Portsmouth. Islanders should not go to Portsmouth for their jab.’

So far 85.1 per cent of the over-80s in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight has received their first dose of a vaccine.

Some 207,033 over-80s were vaccinated with a single jab, and 16.3 per cent of over-80s have received a second dose.
