Concerns were raised over employees at Iceland in Waterlooville continuing to go in for shifts whilst waiting for Covid-19 test results but bosses have confirmed that, while there has been positive cases, there is no one working in the store ‘waiting on test results’.

Two workers from the store have tested positive for Covid-19 and two others are self-isolating following advice from NHS Test and Trace.

An Iceland spokesman said: ‘Two of our Iceland store colleagues at Waterlooville are self-isolating at home after testing positive for Covid-19. A further two colleagues from the store are self-isolating at home on the advice of NHS Test and Trace. No one is working in the store ‘waiting on results’ of Covid tests.

‘In line with government advice, if a colleague is suffering symptoms, or has been in close contact with a positive case, we would expect them to self-isolate for 10 days. Should a person feel it necessary to be tested then it is our expectation that they will also stay away from work until their test results are known.’

One customer, who wished to remain anonymous, said she had complained to head office about the issue.

She said: ‘I know someone that’s working there and still working and waiting on results. I’m just thinking of the public.’
