Havant mental health unit takes action after Covid-19 outbreak on ward

Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust (SHFT), which runs Elmleigh Hospital in Havant, has told The News that is taking action to prevent spread of the virus.

A spokesman from SHFT, which runs the facility, said: ‘Six patients on one of the two wards at Elmleigh Hospital have tested positive for Covid-19.

‘We are taking action to prevent further spread of the virus, including testing of all other patients and staff.

‘Five staff members are currently self-isolating until test results are confirmed. Contingency plans are in place to ensure we have sufficient staff on the ward to provide safe, effective care.’
