NHS staff praise Hampshire volunteers for successful roll-out of vaccination programme

THE success of the county’s vaccination programme ‘would not have been possible’ if it had not been for the support of volunteers.

That was the message from Hampshire NHS staff who have been administering the life saving jabs.

Dr Tim Cooper, GP and vaccination lead for North Hampshire said: ‘At the Hampshire Court Hotel we are administering vaccinations seven days a week and this would not be possible without our army of volunteers.

‘From helping in the car park to administering hand sanitizer and ensuring our patients are in the right place at the right time, our volunteers are always there with a smile on their face to help everyone feel at ease.’

Hundreds of volunteers have supported the delivery of the biggest vaccination programme in the history of the NHS in a number of different ways, including marshalling and in ‘meet and greet’ roles.

Since the Covid-19 vaccination programme started in December, the role volunteers are playing has been crucial to the success in hitting the milestone of offering the vaccination to some of the most vulnerable residents.

Dr Cooper added: ‘Our volunteers have helped the NHS achieve the amazing milestone of offering a vaccine to so many of our most vulnerable residents. All of your contributions have undoubtedly helped us to set up and run our vaccination clinics at such an incredibly fast, yet, safe way.’
