Coronavirus in Portsmouth: One new Covid-19 death reported at QA Hospital as total rises to 1,092
The latest figures from the NHS report that more new deaths linked to Covid-19 have been confirmed at Queen Alexandra Hospital – meaning the total is now 1,092.
Updated daily figures released by NHS England on Tuesday, March 8 show that the most recent death was recorded on March 4.
All numbers registered in the last few days are subject to change as post mortem results are processed.
It means the total number of deaths linked to coronavirus at the hospital is 1,092 since the pandemic started.
The daily figures include deaths where the patient has tested positive for Covid-19 in the preceding 28 days.
The first death at QA Hospital was recorded on March 14 in 2020.
Confirmed cases in the Portsmouth City Council area have risen to more than 60,000 since the start of the pandemic.
While daily death figures are recorded by hospital trusts – and do not include those that occur in care homes – cases are recorded by council area.
There have been 637 deaths confirmed so far by University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, and Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, in Winchester, has recorded 529 deaths.
Southern NHS Trust has seen 65, and Solent NHS Trust 17.
