Portsmouth called upon to show support ahead of Pompey fan Dom Merrix's funeral today
THE funeral of a beloved Pompey fan and dad who died from Covid-19 is being held today.
Dom Merrix, 48 from Langley Road, North End, suffered a fatal heart attack after his health took a sudden turn, leaving behind heartbroken partner Sarah and 10-year-old daughter Ellie-Mai.
In an outpouring of grief from the Portsmouth community, around £12,500 was raised for his funeral – which takes place today.
The city has been called upon to say its goodbyes to the aspiring football coach as he heads towards Portchester Crematorium.
His custom blue Pompey casket will be setting off from Langley Road at 2pm, going over Copnor Bridge and down to St Mary’s Hospital and Rodney Road.
The cortege will then drive past Fratton Park, before heading up to the crematorium for 3pm.
The funeral itself will be attended by a small handful of Dom’s relatives.
