Portsmouth, Gosport and Havant to go into Tier 4 for Christmas - with no mixing allowed

The Prime Minister has announced strict new coronavirus rules ahead of Christmas.

Boris Johnson alongside Professor Chris Whitty and Sir Patrick Vallance made the announcement in a press conference today.

He revealed strict tier four rules for London, south east and the east – in areas currently in tier 3.

Meaning Portsmouth, Gosport and Havant are moving to tier four.

Non-essential retail, hairdressers and gyms will have to close.

The rules come into force on Sunday.

Tier four residents will be unable to travel abroad.

He also announce changes to Christmas rules, in England people in tier four areas should not mix with anyone outside their household at Christmas.

In rest of country, bubbles are only limited to Christmas Day and not the five days previously announced.
