South Africa Lodge and Waterlooville staff praised at awards

Award winning complex care provider Cornerstone Healthcare treated staff to an all-expenses paid, glitzy evening at Southampton’s five-star Harbour Hotel for their inaugural ‘Cornerstone Champions Awards’.

The brain child of the group’s CEO, Johann van Zyl, the Champions Awards are a new staff awards evening where colleagues come together to celebrate excellence and each other’s successes.

Following a month-long nomination period where staff voted for each other across a number of categories and a finalist day involving independent judging panels, the big night was here to announce the winners. Employees were wined, dined and entertained with secret, operatic singing waiters.

Nine trophies were handed out on the evening hosted by Martin Starke of Greatest Hits Radio, ranging from Business Support Worker of the Year, Care Worker of the Year to Nurse of the Year. Winners were presented with a unique ‘Champions’ trophy and a £200 Virgin Gift Experience. All 21 finalists were presented with a personalised bottle of Moët Champagne.

Cornerstone Healthcare operates specialist nursing homes in Hampshire and Surrey which care for people with challenging behaviours associated with complex neurological and mental health needs. The care group has both its 99-bed care home South Africa Lodge and head office based in Waterlooville which between them scooped four of the nine awards on offer.
