Groups to provide advocacy support in Portsmouth

TWO groups are working together to support people and give them a voice.

Solent Mind and Choices Advocacy will work in partnership to deliver high-quality services across the Portsmouth area.

Helen Roberts, Solent Mind’s head of advocacy, said: ‘Our service has expanded greatly over the past few years, allowing us to provide mental health advocates in a wide variety of settings and locations.

‘In the last year we responded to over 1,500 referrals from clients with a range of needs.

‘We’re delighted to now be able to work in Portsmouth.’

Allison Flack, chief executive of Choices Advocacy, added: ‘This is an exciting opportunity to be working together to provide independent advocacy services to people in Portsmouth.’

Portsmouth Advocacy offers a range of free services, including Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Care Act and some community advocacy, as well as support to vulnerable people living in Portsmouth.
