Much-loved Portsmouth doctor retires after nearly three decades of service

STAFF and patients have given thanks to a much-loved doctor who is retiring after three decades of working in the city.

After completing his training in rural practice and then the city of Birmingham, Dr Ian Morris moved to the south coast in 1991 and joined Hanway Medical Practice where he served almost 30 years.

He said: ‘Having tried both types of environment when qualifying to become a GP, I found working in inner city practices much more interesting and rewarding.

‘I am also proud to have worked in a generation of doctors who were able to build trusted, long-term relationships with patients in order to provide support and care when needed.’

Colleague and founder of Lalys Pharmacy, Mr Baldev Laly added: ‘Dr Morris has been a shining example of such care and I know I speak for all the staff when I wish him a very happy and well-deserved retirement.’​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
