‘It is just so sad that we are trying to help the community and that someone would do something like that. We also had another customer tell us that they saw another customer stuff medication in the pockets and then run out the door into a car. All the staff just feel sheer disappointment.’

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the theft.

A police spokesman said: ‘We were called at 10.10am this morning to Chichester Road following reports of a shoplifting from a pharmacy.

‘Some medication was stolen. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information can call 101, quoting 44200111064.’
