Plans to transform health care in Hampshire in early stages

A PLAN to change health services in Hampshire are at an early stage, officials have said.

It comes as other areas of the country have submitted their plans which could see hospital wards closed, GP practices merged and A&E services changed.

The latest area to announce their plans was Dorset.

The proposals are part of NHS England’s Sustainability and Transformation Plan. The NHS needs to find £22bn in efficiency savings by 2020/21.

A spokesman for the NHS in Hampshire said: ‘The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Sustainability and Transformation Plan is still in development and we are therefore not ready to discuss it at the moment.

‘After the plan is submitted to NHS England, it will be published locally.

‘We do not have a date for that at this stage.

‘We will then begin a phase of sharing our draft proposals with local people and groups and gathering their views.

‘Part of this process will be to identify whether any of the proposals should generate a public consultation.’
