Police use battering ram to get into Gosport home to reach woman needing hospital treatment

A WOMAN was rushed to hospital after police were forced to break into a property yesterday.

Just before midday on Thursday, May 21, emergency services were called to Ledwell Court in Weevil Lane, Gosport.

The call came through following concerns about a resident in the block of flats.

Police were seen by neighbours carrying a battering ram to get inside the property, before the woman was put in the back of an ambulance and driven to hospital by paramedics.

A spokeswoman for Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘We were called just before 11.30am to an address on Weevil Lane, Gosport, to concerns over the welfare of the resident.

‘Police attended with two ambulances, and entry was forced into the address.

‘The woman was checked over by paramedics and she was taken to hospital.’

Emergency services were at the scene of the incident for about an hour and a half.
