Portsmouth councillor believes Budget could help A&E

A SENIOR councillor believes the spring Budget could help improve target rates at a hospital.

As reported by The News, Queen Alexandra Hospital’s A&E figures were was the 15th worst performing in the country in January with 66.7 per cent of people seen within four hours.

Portsmouth City Council’s cabinet member for adult social care and public health Councillor Luke Stubbs thinks people should only A&E is necessary.

He said: ‘The key to improving the situation has to be to key everyone who doesn’t need emergency care away from the department. Perhaps the chancellor’s announcement of plans for GP services in hospitals for that reason will help.’
