Queen Alexandra Hospital emergency department staff hold birthday party for Captain Tom

Queen Alexandra Hospital staff in the emergency department had a celebratory dinner, courtesy of Savoury Express, for Cpt Moore’s 100th birthday after he raised more than £30m for NHS Charities Together by walking 100 lengths of his garden.

Jemma Pettigrew, emergency department sister, said: ‘Along with my colleagues Kayleigh and Vicky, we have a huge passion for emergency care.

‘We have been following Captain, now Colonel Moore, and feel not only has he raised this incredible amount but has been a positive role model for us during these unprecedented times.

‘For us as a team to have the chance to celebrate his achievements is fantastic.’

Andrew Mole from Savoury Express, based in Fareham, said: ‘The staff got in touch with us a few weeks ago about getting food in and we said we would do it for free as a big thank you to the staff for everything they do.’
