This selection includes images of a variety of different types of lifeboat.
You will see a 1911 image of the Langstone harbour lifeboat dramatically launching, there was an event called ‘Lifeboat Saturday’, where in 1904 you could see a boat from the day out of the water, in this case in Edinburgh Road and a stunning old image of the Hayling Island lifeboat in 1900.

Sent in by Bob and Sue Clark by e mail here we see the Eastney Lifeboat crew (Now the Portsmouth Lifeboat) in 1976. The life boat was an Atlantic 21 and was named Guide Friendship II the money for the boat being raised by the girl guides. Some of the names have disappeared with time but those that can be remembered are Bob Clark, middle top row, Graham Jule, second top right.
