It’s probably the one street in the city which captures the essence of Portsmouth better than any other.

We have dug into the archives and found some historic photos of Fratton Road and Fratton Bridge... they certainly look a little different now.

During late 1928 and early 1929 Fratton Road was widened and at the bottom of this page is a glimpse of the re-opening ceremony on July 25, 1929.
