We decided to dive into The News archives to find photos of just some of the pubs that have served their last pints – and find out what happened to them after shutting down.
From being demolished to become homes and even more.

5. The Air Balloon
Designed by famed architect A H Bone, The Air Balloon was situated on the corner of Flying Bull Lane. It closed in 2005 and was badly damaged in an arson attack in 2007. It is now a mixture of office space and private accommodation. Photo: The News archive

6. The Oakwood
Opened in the 1930s. The Oakwood originally had two bars but when it was taken over by national firm Punch Taverns they were knocked into one. In 2009 the building was bought by the Co-operative society. Photo: Jonathan Brady

7. The Hotel Avenue
Located on Twyford Avenue in Stamshaw, The Hotel Avenue was another one of A E Cogswell's boozers. Designed for the Pike Spicer brewery it offered bed and breakfast until its closure in early 2012. It has since been turned into apartments. Photo: The Royal Naval Benevolent Trust

8. The New Roebuck
