Capture the fun of summer to win top spot as The News' One Summer's Day photo competition returns

MAKING the most of the summer seems more important than ever now the sun has come out and we can enjoy more activities outdoors.

Despite all we have been through this year, there is still plenty to enjoy and celebrate - and we’d like to share it with you as The News’ One Summer’s Day competition returns on Saturday, August 15.

Keen photographers are encouraged to take a snap which captures all the fun, adventure or silliness of your day whether it’s spent with family, friends or pets.

Or, as it is also the 75th anniversary of VJ Day, perhaps a military-themed picture would be appropriate.

Although it’s set to be a very different summer season this year, there is plenty you could be doing - whether you’re enjoying an ice cream at the beach, racing your dog to the top of Butser Hill or taking a stroll through Southsea’s Rose Gardens.

Previous winners have included a variety of fun images including 2018 winner Kate Toman’s snap of four-year-old goddaughter Tilly chomping into a strawberry in the park, and a long walk through a field with his sister Coral was captured by Jude Hughes, our 2017 winner.

Whatever you are doing, if you can capture the perfect photo opportunity which shows off your summer activities, you could be in the running for our prize-winning top spot of the competition.

‘Your photos don’t need to be professional, just grab your camera or smartphone and take a shot which captures the moment and shows off the best of summer 2020 in and around Portsmouth.'

To enter the One Summer’s Day competition, email your picture to [email protected]. Only photos taken on Saturday, August 15, will be considered.

All digital images must be high resolution and 1MB or above in size, to ensure they appear as taken on our pages. Please include your full name, address and daytime contact number, plus a description of what and who is in your picture.
