And the pubs are now starting to reopen after the government gave them the green light to return.

Cams Mill, Portchester

This drinking hole boasts a selection of Fullers beers and a beer garden that can seat up to 60 people.

Nestled away on Cromwell Road, this beer garden is something of a hidden gem.

The Eastney Tavern reopened on July 4.

For its opening weekend, customers had to book tables via email.

The Lord John Russell, Southsea

As landlord Chris Vaux would tell you, there is much to smile about the the Lord John Russell's beer garden in Albert Road.

The Lord Raglan, Emsworth

This 18th century pub and beer garden offers up beautiful views of Emsworth Harbour.

It can be found in Queen Street.

The Lord Raglan reopened on July 9.

The Osborne View, Fareham

It may not look substantial from its position along Hill Head Road, Fareham, but this drinking hole boasts a beer garden capable of seating scores of booze-lovers - all with great views of the Solent.

The Osborne View is planning to reopen the week beginning July 19.

The Phoenix, Southsea

Tucked away off the beaten track that is Albert Road, this Duncan Road establishment's beer garden is full to the brim with weird and wacky trinkets to marvel over.

The pub reopened on July 4 and it now has table service only and it will be first come first served as they are not currently taking bookings.

The Rising Sun, Swanmore

This boozer can be found in Hill Pound Farmhouse, Mislingford Road, Swanmore.

You wouldn't be far wrong in saying it has a beer garden the size of a small park!

The pub has now reopened – and is open 7 days a week.

The Shoe Inn, Exton

Another pub nestled among the South Downs, this beer garden overlooks a tranquil meadow.

It can be found in Shoe Lane, Exton.

O'Neill's, Southsea

Formerly known as the Victoria & Albert but it has been recently rebranded, this suntrap takes the drinker away from the hustle and bustle of Albert Road, but still offers up a lively atmosphere in the sunshine.

It is now open again following lockdown.

There is a number of new safety measures in place to protect staff and customers.

Brewhouse and Kitchen, Southsea

It may have undergone a makeover and been transformed from The White Horse but you would be hard-pressed to think of a more recognisable beer garden than this in Southsea that this pub near the Common.

It can be found in Southsea Terrace.
