Beloved food vendors recognised at The Big Eat Food Festival including Fries Love and Powder Monkey Brewery
Spanning over three days - May 25 to May 27 - the Big Eat Food Festival welcomed more than 28,000 people to the Royal Victoria Country Park, Southampton, to indulge in delicious food and drink. The event has successfully completed its third year and every guest was given the opportunity to cast five votes to street food vendors who were serving up on the day.
The festival has now announced the vendors who received the most amount of votes.

Hide AdThe Nomadic Kitchen, which dishes up Asian street food business, was crowned ‘Overall Winner’ as well as ‘Best International Cuisine’. Colin and his daughter Ash run The Nomadic Kitchen. Colin said: “We are absolutely thrilled and honoured to receive these awards. The recognition from both the public and The Big Eat team means the world to us. We spent last Winter travelling around Asia in search of new and exciting recipes to bring back to the UK and it’s been an incredible journey sharing our international flavours with this amazing community.”
Vendors that represent Portsmouth and its surrounding areas were also recognised through the voting system - Fries Love, Powder Monkey Brewery and The Cookhouse Street Food all bagged winning titles.
Fries Love, which is located in Commercial Road, was crowned winner of the category ‘Best Looking’ at the event. The vendor is a popular choice in Portsmouth and the team dish up Belgian fries which are served with a range of toppings including mozzarella cheese and ketchup, onion, chive and curry and much more.
Powder Monkey Brewery, Gosport, took the title of ‘Best Bar’ at the food festival. The brewery is an extremely well known business in the Hampshire area and prides itself on its quality beverages that it prodcues.

Hide AdThe Cookhouse Street Food is a truck that travels around Hampshire with its weekly spots including Hayling Island and Lakeside North Harbour. The truck is always seen at big events including Victorious Festival and it has been recognised in the ‘Best Locally Sourced’ category at the food event.
Other winners include Mr Burrito, Hey Spud, Arty-Stan Pizza, Teal Tiffin and much more. Jeremy Gaskin, founder of The Big Eat CIC said: “The Big Eat is all about recognising and appreciating the fantastic range of food we have right on our doorstep.”
