Tides Coffee Shop in Fareham has welcomed customers back after undergoing an extension and refurbishment which has gone down a treat with customers. The shop, which is owned by Jackie Tribbeck, opened up in 2022 and has come on leaps and bounds over the past two years. Offering exquisite cake and coffee, the cafe has gained a loyal customer base and due to the increase in popularity, the owner decided to expand.
Jackie said: “I opened Tides in 2022 because I saw the space up for rent and I have lived in the community for a long time and even though I have never worked in a coffee shop or even owned one, I gave up my job at the council where I’d worked for many years and decided to give it a go.”
The coffee shop closed its doors on August 11 whilst it underwent the work – and people have been flooding in since it re-opened in a bid to get a glimpse at the new interior and space. Jackie said that the new extension has also meant that the site has gained an additional ten seats which will allow the team to welcome more customers who want to sit in.
Jackie added: “I walked past this building many times walking my dog for 16 – 17 years and completely moaned to myself that there’s nowhere to get a coffee in the area so when it came up for rent, I just decided it might be a good idea to just go for it because I didn’t someone else would and I would probably have lived with the regret of that – so, I decided to take the plunge and it has all unfolded quite naturally and organically really.
"It’s working out really well – it got so popular that the tiny little space that we had had to change – so we decided to expand – so we are now able to feed more people and have a little bit more space.
"All of the regulars are loving it and we’ve only been open four days since the refurb but it seems to be going well and everybody is enjoying it.”
