Q: I have been growing everlasting sweet peas for several years. A friend bought me one which has pale blue flowers and I love it. Will the seeds produce blue flowers if I save them for next year? CP, Cosham.

A: Yes, sweet peas are self-pollinating and the seedlings will produce blue flowers.

Q: I want to know what is causing holes in my lawn? The holes are about four inches deep and four inches across and new ones are appearing each morning. FV, Denvilles.

A: This damage is caused by foxes who are eating the worms in the turf. Sounds silly but leave a radio on in the garden during the night, as long as it won’t upset the neighbours! You need to tune in to a speech-based station as voices keep them away.

Q: Is it too late to sow seeds of wallflowers? FK, Purbrook

A: No, but get the seeds in as soon as you can and keep them watered.
