Gardening: Seven years of our little paradise | Southsea Green

Midsummer’s eve already and we are dreaming of the harvest, or Titania perhaps.
Southsea Green... seven years old.Southsea Green... seven years old.
Southsea Green... seven years old.

Our festival days and holidays, now replaced by rewilding our neighbourhoods... sharing seedlings, and garden tips, shopping for neighbours, walks beside the sea, or anywhere with anybody’s dog.

Back in 2013 we opened the gate of our community garden beside the sea, our hopefulness matched only by public interest in our passion for rewilding our city.

Seven years followed, of growing our own paradise, of welcoming anyone, large or small. We handed trowels out to so many volunteers of all ages and skills, and listened to many many stories.

Now it’s 2020 and I hear birdsong. I see a garden still green, with gardeners tending and watering, reopening the garden again soon.

I dream of walking down the garden path, smiling at the wildness and the peace.
