Portsmouth in Bloom competition starts to heat up

THE voting process for this year's Portsmouth in Bloom is underway.

Budding gardeners from across the city have been submitting their horticultural masterpieces for the contest.

Twelve categories were available for entry, including business gardens, allotments and hanging baskets.

Christine Celli, project co-ordinator for Portsmouth in Bloom, said: ‘Each category has a different judge, who awards marks for each entry based on certain criteria, which also vary. These marks are then submitted to the head judge and Paul Miles from Portsmouth City Council.’

The awards evening will be held on Thursday, September 15 at the Victory Suite at Fratton Park. Invitations to this and further details will be issued next month.
