5 things to do this half term on the Isle of Wight
Frights and Sprites at Blackgang Chine
Celebrate Halloween at the UK’s oldest theme park, Blackgang Chine, during October half term. Expect spooky scenes and gooey goings on at the Rumpus Mansion and if there’s someone artsy in the family, let them loose on the creepy crafts.
As you work your way around the site, make sure to check out Cowboy Town and Pirates Cove. And keep an eye out for the dinosaurs at Area 5!
Experience the Day of the Dead with Robin Hill
Enjoy a party like no other at Robin Hill’s Festival of the Dead, inspired by the traditional Mexican celebration, Día de los Muertos.
Experience stunning light shows, dance the night away with a live mariachi band and sample some of the delicious flavours of Mexico.
Ride away with the Steam Railway for Wizard Week
There’s a magical week of spooky goings on at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway.
Hop aboard one of the Railway’s throwback carriages and you’ll be joined by witches, wizards and ghouls as you pass through the Island countryside.
Keep an eye out for the magician, conjuring up all sorts of tricks, and don't forget to look up, with birds of prey from Haven Falconry swooping and diving in the skies.
Meet your favourite animal at the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary and Amazon World
A visit to the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary or to Amazon World Zoo is a must. At the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary you can discover a vast collection of animals from all over the world.
Initially designed as a tiger sanctuary on the Isle of Wight, this wildlife haven has since grown to include other big cats and primates
Meanwhile, Amazon World is home to over 200 different species, some of whom can't be seen anywhere else in the UK. You'll be able to learn all about their habitats and behaviours as well as some of the challenges they face in the wild.
Enjoy some fresh air with scenic walks
There are some amazing walking routes across the Island's beautiful coastline - perfect for those who like to get out and about. Further inland, paths will take you close to some of the Island wildlife. You may even be lucky enough to spot a red squirrel!
Bringing the pooch with you? No problem! Many of the beaches dotted across the Island are dog-friendly, providing a perfect place to stretch your legs.
