Have your say – do you feel safe? Fill out survey on the future of policing
Police and Crime Commissioner, Donna Jones started a public consultation in June and it will run until August 19. There have already been 4,020 responses from the public, but as many as possible are wanted in the next month.
The results will inform the Police and Crime Plan which will be carried out by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary until 2028.
Commissioner Donna Jones said: “I am your voice on everything covered by policing and crime. I need to be able to hold the force to account and make sure police are answerable to the communities they serve, which is why I need to hear from the public.
“Previously, you asked for more police officers on the streets, working within the heart of communities. I have delivered on that with 650 more officers - Local Bobbies for everyone.
“I have also promised to open 10 more police stations and front counters and this is on track. There will be seven more police stations by December, and 75 more police officers by spring next year.
“I am now in my second term as Commissioner and would like to know what else the public would like me to do. I want to know about the challenges in each community and how families, homes and businesses can be best protected.”
As an elected official, the Police and Crime Commissioner has a statutory duty to set local policing priorities on the basis of what the public tell them. National priorities and threats are laid out by the Home Office under the Strategic Policing Requirement.
PCC Donna Jones added: “The future direction of policing throughout Hampshire and the Isle of Wight is in your hands. Your voice and your views matter.”
The results of the survey will be published by the Commissioner in the autumn.
