Animal welfare seminar

Dog wardens and animal welfare officers from around the region - and one from as far afield as Malta '“ attended East Hampshire District Council's seminar on animal welfare.

More than 65 professionals heard talks from well-known speakers on dog law, micro-chipping and media relations at Penns Place, Petersfield.

The event was run by EHDC’s award-winning animal welfare team Natasha Watson and Neil Burton and sponsored by Natural Instinct.

Mr Burton, EHDC’s senior animal welfare officer, said: ‘It was a great day and an excellent opportunity for sharing best practice among other professionals.

‘Our speakers were terrific. They are well-respected in the industry and I think everyone went away having learnt a 
lot.’

Among the day’s delegates was Dennis Sciberras, animal welfare co-ordinator for the Maltese government.

‘This is a very important meeting,’ he said.

‘I will be able to adapt much of what has been discussed here and take it away with me to Malta.’
