Hilsea Lido is due to open this year.

And after more than a year of restoration work, the outdoor swimming pool is starting to take shape.

Over the past few weeks, the contractors, Beard, have applied anti-slip paint to the lagoons and shallower sections, behind the 1.35m line. This coat of paint is for safety measures to ensure no one slips over in the shallow areas.

All of the lights and filters have also been installed at the pool and will be tested in due course. Work is also continuing on the surrounding grounds, with the team levelling the ground ready for hardcore stone on the top.

When complete, the £7.75m scheme, paid for by the Levelling Up Fund, will create new changing rooms, benches, tables, fountain and a fully functioning pool, as well as a sauna introduced by the new operators - Sea Lanes Brighton.

Hilsea Lido is expected to open next spring with Sea Lanes Brighton looking at offering a full programme of classes and events.
