Beer lovers enjoy 14th festival
HUNDREDS of pints were downed as real ale lovers flocked to the Portchester Beer Festival.
More than 200 people attended each of the two sessions at Portchester Community Centre on Saturday.
They enjoyed entertainment from Irish folk band Dicey Riley in the afternoon and from the massed ukuleles of the Pompey Pluckers in the evening.
A total of 24 beers from as far afield as Scotland were on offer as well as seven different ciders and three varieties of perry.
Beer festival co-ordinator Adrian Walter said: ‘We’re now in our 14th year and it is great to see so many people supporting us again.
‘We had a wide range of beers and other drinks for people to enjoy.
‘As well as seeing many brewers making a return to the festival, it’s great to welcome for the first time two new Portsmouth enterprises - the Staggeringly Good Brewery and the Urban Island Brewery.’
As well as Portchester Community Centre, three charities benefited from the festival’s proceeds - The Fire Fighters Charity, Faith and Football and Artscape.
