Body discovered near cricket pitches in Winchester, police confirm

The police have confirmed that the body of a man was discovered near the cricket pitches in Nuns Road, Winchester this morning (October 12) at 8:26am.
The police have confirmed that the death is being treated as ‘unexpected’ but not suspicious and a coroner’s file is being prepared for the coroner.

Hide AdThe news comes after a weekly parkrun was cancelled at the last minute due to an incident.
Winchester Parkrun wrote on Facebook: “The emergency services were dealing with an incident over towards the rugby club and so we couldn't go ahead. We hope you understand.” A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: “Officers attended and the death is being treated as unexpected but not suspicious.
“The man’s next of kin have been informed. A file is being prepared for the coroner.”
