Buy your tickets quick, it'll be a sell-out

Columnist Les Heyhoe, 59, is a champion fundraiser who has raised millions of pounds for good causes. Here he talks about his latest event.

BACK in May, my wife Lyn and I held a charity race evening at HMS Sultan.

We have been organising these for many, many years now and they are extremely popular.

The one in May raised £2,864. Half of the money went to Blind Veterans UK and half to Gosport teenager Alicia Pannell.

Over our previous race evenings we have managed to raise more than £150,000 for charity.

Each time we hold the event more than 400 people come along.

We do not even have to push it because they are just so popular.

Every race evening is a sell-out.

One of the reasons is that they are so much fun.

And it’s also a cheap night where everyone can have a real laugh.

Every penny we raise goes to charity.

It is not even difficult for us to organise any more because we have been doing it for so long.

I am pleased to say that it has been agreed for another race evening to be held on Friday, November 18.

I expect a sell-out again, as usual. I had to turn more than 150 people away in May.

Please don’t delay if you want tickets, get them as soon as you can.

I expect there will be an even greater demand as it is the start of my 60th birthday celebration weekend.

Family and friends will certainly be joining me, even those who don’t usually attend, thereby reducing the number of tickets available.

I’m looking forward to hearing from lots of you with requests for tickets, which cost £5.

The money will be split between Gosport OAPs’ Christmas party and Gosport teenager Alicia Pannell.

I can deliver in the Fareham and Gosport area.
