Caring coastguards ride coast for charity
Matt Stickels, a Coastguard Rescue Station Officer based in Herne Bay in Kent, along with some like-minded colleagues from the Coastguard Rescue Service from Kent and Sussex covered 160 miles on their bicycles, riding from Kent to Fareham to raise money to fight childhood cancer.
The crew left Dover on Good Friday and arrived at Coastguard National Maritime Operations Centre in Segensworth, Fareham, on Easter Sunday, in aid of charity Children with Cancer UK.

Hide AdOn the way they called in at the Royal Marines Museum and the D-Day Museum in Southsea on Sunday morning, before having a quick stop at the HMS Warrior, and then headed over to Daedalus.
Bob Armitage-Walker, the event press officer, said: ‘They did it. Through rain, hail and high winds – up hill and down dale. What an awesome effort by all concerned. What a team and what a wonderful charity to support.’
