Children gearing up for Portsmouth's first ever Cultural Carnival

MORE than 1,000 children will come together for Portsmouth's first Cultural Carnival on Wednesday.

The event, which starts at 9.45am, will see primary school pupils gather on the Guildhall steps and enjoy live entertainment.

They will then take part in a carnival procession around the Guildhall Square and into Victoria Park. The children have been preparing for the big day, rehearsing songs, dances and playing instruments.

Families, friends and members of the public are encouraged to watch the fun.

Sue Beckett, of Portsmouth Music Hub, said: ‘The Cultural Carnival marks the end of a year of concerts and events undertaken by the Music Hub, and it’s the perfect way to celebrate the diverse cultural work undertaken in our city.’
