The 1985 picture shows the beautiful old tram shelter at Copnor Bridge which was provided for passengers who once caught trams which terminated in New Road.

The couple say: ‘It looks like the same type of shelter which once stood at the tram terminus by Alexandra Park which had a clock over the doorway.’

I wondered what that must have looked like and soon afterwards Patrick Boyle answered my musings by posting the picture on the right.

It shows the Copnor Bridge shelter, complete with one of those clocks.

They certainly don’t make ’em like that any more.
