A 15-year-old boy from Hampshire charged following the stabbing of a police officer during robbery in London

A 15-YEAR-OLD boy from Hampshire will face several charges after the stabbing of a female police officer during a robbery in central London on Sunday.

The teenager faces charges alongside another 15-year-old boy, who is from Barking.

It follows a female Metropolitan Police officer being stabbed when her and a male colleague tried to stop a robbery in a shop in Chapter Street, London, on Sunday.

The female officer was stabbed in the abdomen, required treatment at hospital, and has now been discharged.

The teen from Hampshire has been charged with assault by beating of an emergency worker, attempted robbery, threatening someone with a knife, assault by beating, and criminal damage.

The other boy is accused of grievous bodily harm and assault by beating on a police officer, attempted robbery, threatening a person with a knife, assault by beating and criminal damage.

The pair will appear at Highbury Corner Youth Court on Tuesday.
