Accused burglar denies targeting 51 homes

A MAN has denied targeting 51 homes to be burgled across two counties.

Albert James, 57, of Mill Pond Crescent, Donnington, appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court yesterday.

He pleaded not guilty to 48 burglaries and three attempted burglaries.

The offences are alleged to have happened between October 25 and December 12 in 2014. They allegedly took place at homes across Hampshire and Sussex.

They include homes in Horndean, Clanfield, Portsmouth, Waterlooville, Havant, Hayling Island and West Sussex.

James is due to go on trial on June 13 at Portsmouth Crown Court.

Judge Sarah Munro QC said: ‘I’m now going to adjourn your case for trial.

‘Your trial will take place at this court on June 13. Between now and then you will have bail on the same terms as before.’
