Attempted murder probe over Chichester collision

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was hit by a car.

The 28-year-old was lying in Selsey Road, Chichester, at 5.15pm on Monday when she was hit and seriously injured.

She was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, where she is in a serious but stable condition.

Sussex Police say the circumstances are under investigation and a 56-year-old Selsey man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in custody. He is known to the victim.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have seen the woman in the area before the incident.

The driver of the Ford Ka involved, a 52-year-old man from Poole, was uninjured. Call police on 101 quoting Operation Haydock or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
