Cars torched in 'malicious' attack in Bedhampton

TWO cars were set on fire in Bedhampton last night after an alleged domestic dispute.

Firefighters were called to Michael Crook Close in Bedhampton in the early hours of this morning, after a car fire spread to a second vehicle.

They say the fire was started deliberately, and police are now investigating the incident.

Crew manager Simon Morford from Havant Fire Station said: ‘It looked like it had been done maliciously, having started after a disagreement.

‘The fire started just underneath the engine bay of the first car, and spread to a second vehicle.

‘Nobody was injured but both cars were destroyed in the blaze – the police were also called.’

A spokeswoman from Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘We were called at 8.30am reporting a vehicle fire which happened at around 1am in Michael Crook Close, Havant.

‘Two cars, a Hyundai and Kia, were burnt out as a result of the fire.

‘Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.’
