Cosham fire crew stumble upon driver who crashed into road sign on way to Purbrook kitchen fire

FIRE crews on the way to a call about a kitchen fire were waylaid after stumbling upon a driver who had crashed into a road sign.

Firefighters from Cosham had to send another appliance out to a small kitchen fire in Purbrook after leaving their station and discovering a driver who had collided with a sign on London Road in Cosham.

A spokesman from Cosham Fire Station said: ‘We were called at 9.30pm to the fire at Arthur Kille House on Gordon Road and as we were on our way we came across an RTC on London Road.

‘We sent another appliance to the house fire which turned out to be a small fire on the kitchen hob which was out on arrival.

‘The driver, a man in his 30s, had crashed with significant impact into a road sign. We helped and handed him over to the ambulance who were assessing his injuries.’
