County's former chief constable investigated

THE county's former chief constable is being investigated after a complaint about child abuse investigation meetings.

Andy Marsh, formerly chief at Hampshire police, is now the top officer at Avon and Somerset.

Police and crime commissioner Sue Mountstevens said Mr Marsh will be investigated by another force after someone made a complaint and then asked the Independent Police Complaints Commission to get involved.

The allegation stems from terms of reference of Hampshire Constabulary’s internal meetings regarding a child abuse investigation in 2013, called Operation Flamborough.

Mr Marsh was previously investigated for 12 months by Essex Police Chief Constable Steve Kavanagh following a complaint in 2013.

No ‘grounds to justify’ misconduct proceedings were found and the complaints were not upheld.
