Delivery driver knocked off his moped during attempted robbery in Southampton

A DELIVERY driver was knocked off his moped by a group of would-be robbers in Hampshire.

The victim was on his vehicle in Warren Avenue, Southampton between 6.50pm and 7pm on Saturday, September 19, when he was surrounded by seven to eight people.

The group were split between two motorbikes and a Black Kia Rio, with the number plate HV59 MJJ.

They surrounded the victim at a roundabout before the Kia reversed into him, knocking him and the moped over.

A member of the public the intervened and the attempted robbers left the scene.

The victim was not injured during the incident but damage was caused to the moped.

In an appeal online, Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘Were you in the area around this time on Saturday, September 19? Did you see anything suspicious? Do you have any CCTV or dash cam footage which may assist our investigation?

‘Officers are also keen to identify the person in this CCTV image. We know he has his face covered but he is wearing distinctive orange and grey gloves. Do you recognise him?

‘The black Kia, registration HV59 MJJ, used in this incident was reported as stolen on Monday, September 14. It was recovered in Coxford Road on Sunday, September 20.

‘Officers would like to find out where it was being kept. Did you see it in your area between Monday, September 14 and Sunday, September 20?’
