Driver chased and threatened with iron bar during road rage incident

A DRIVER was threatened with an iron bar and chased in his car by a man during a road rage incident.

A man in his 40s was driving a blue Renault Cleo along Portsmouth Road, Bursledon, when he was overtaken by a dark blue BMW 3 series at around 7pm on Friday April 2.

‘The BMW then stopped abruptly in front of the Renault Cleo causing both vehicles to stop before the BMW driver got out of his car brandishing an iron bar or police style baton,’ a police spokesman said.

‘He then approached the victim whilst shouting and making threatening gestures.

‘The victim reversed the Renault Cleo and drove off. The BMW then continued to pursue the victim around the Sholing area.

‘The victim managed to drive to Hedge End police station, at which point the BMW drove off in the direction of Bursledon.’

No one was injured.

The BMW driver was white, between 25 to 35 years old and slim with short brown / blonde hair and he was wearing blue jeans.

‘Officers are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area of the Plough Public House on Portsmouth Road and the Sholing, Bursledon and Hedge End areas at around the time of the incident,’ the spokesman added.

‘Did you witness the incident? Did you see two cars appearing to be racing in the areas described?
