Ex-detective urges police to probe killer

A RETIRED detective has said police should investigate a convicted killer over the unsolved murder of a woman.

Linda Cook, 24, was murdered after she left a friend’s home in Sultan Road, Buckland, Portsmouth to walk to her home in Victoria Road South early on December 9, 1986.

Detectives re-opened the case in 2003 using DNA to try to find the killer.

But ex-detective Chris Clark, who is writing several books on killers, has said police should look at Paul Taylor, formerly of Valentine Close, Fareham, who was convicted of the murder of Sally McGrath.

Her body was found in Cambridgeshire in 1980.

Mr Clark said Taylor could be a suspect as he lived nearby.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokeswoman said: ‘A review of all information and evidence available in the Linda Cook murder case is ongoing as part of regular routine work carried out by Hampshire Constabulary.

‘Mr Clark’s information has been received. We’re always grateful to members of the public who make genuine attempts to assist with solving any crime. Having examined the information he sent us, no new suspects or any new lines of enquiry have been identified at this time.’
