Eye movement study
TINY eye movements can reveal if a person is lying when they claim not to know another individual, research has shown.
Psychologist Ailsa Millen, from the University of Portsmouth, who led the study, said: ‘Criminal accomplices often deny they know other members in their networks.
‘But if they deny recognition, their eye movements when viewing photos of suspects may reveal this type of lie.’
The study using eye-tracking technology showed eyes move in a different pattern when looking at faces they recognise.
