Fareham police fine three men for Covid-19 breach after their 5am car ride - with cannabis onboard

POLICE have fined men for breaching Covid restrictions – after they were caught with cannabis in a parked car in Titchfield during the early hours of Sunday morning.

Officers found the vehicle while patrolling the car park off Bridge Street, at 5.40am on Sunday.

The three occupants of the vehicle were found to be breaching Covid restrictions, and were reported for summons in relation to a fixed penalty notice, according to a spokesman from Hampshire Constabulary.

He said: ‘They are a 19-year-old man from Fareham, a 20-year-old man from Fareham, and a 20-year-old man from Gosport.

‘The 20-year-old man from Fareham was also dealt with by means of community resolution for cannabis possession.’

Police will take ‘robust’ action in the face of ‘blatant breaches’, the spokesman continued.

He added: ‘We would like to remind everyone that we all need to play our part in adhering to the government restrictions in order to prevent the spread of this deadly virus.

‘The message is simple, you should be staying at home. It’s vital that everyone understands this and observes the restrictions in place.

‘Robust enforcement action will be taken by police as required, where blatant breaches in public places or private premises are reported to us.’
