Posting on Twitter, the police force said: ‘We have had several reports of suspicious behaviour and thefts from sheds/garages over this weekend.

‘Beaumont Rise, Hill Park Road, The Greendale and others are affected.

‘Following on from this officers are conducting hi-viz patrols of the area and have spoken to some residents and providing them with information and advice.’

People are advised to ensure their shed or garage is appropriately locked – with a padlock if necessary – and to lock everything securely inside.
