Gosport burglar jailed after £7,000 worth of goods stolen from flat - with accomplice due to be sentenced

A BURGLAR has been jailed after £7,000 worth of goods were stolen from a flat in Gosport.

Curtis Coombes, 34, formerly of South Street, Gosport, and Aaron James Smethurst, 35, of Bemisters Lane, Gosport, admitted the burglary on Minnitt Road.

The address was entered between 2.20pm and 2.30pm on November 1 before they stole cash, jewellery, designer handbags, an iPad and a mobile phone.

Following an investigation the pair were arrested and then charged before admitting the offence at Portsmouth Crown Court on December 14.

Appearing at court on Thursday, Coombes was jailed for 27 months.

Smethurst is due to be sentenced at a later date.

As part of the investigation a 27-year-old woman from Gosport was given a conditional caution for obstructing police.
